The Big Deal: Glory Denied at Fort Worth Opera

by Anne Bothwell 31 Oct 2012 7:23 AM

Glory Denied is the true story of Col. Jim Thompson. He spent nine harrowing as a Vietnam POW, then returned home to entirely different, but equally heartbreaking challenges.

Fort Worth Opera presents the opera version of Thompson’s story next spring.  On Monday, in honor of Veteran’s Day, the Opera, Art&Seek and Tarrant County College South Campus are sponsoring Glory Denied: Coming Home From Modern Conflict. Join us for a special evening of conversation with the author of Glory Denied, Tom Philpott;  the composer of the opera, Tom Cipullo;  and veterans Charles Overstreet and Robert Carroll. They’ll discuss how the homecoming experience has changed for soldiers since Vietnam, and how that experience can be translated into art.

We hope you’ll join us Monday night.  (It’s free, but please RSVP.)

As an incentive, Fort Worth Opera is giving away a pair of tickets to see a performance of Glory Denied April 23-May 11. You’ll get a voucher to reserve your tickets for any performance other than opening night.

You must be an Art&Seek e-newsletter subscriber to win. And you may also be interested in this week’s other Big Deals: tickets to see Rhett Miller at the Granada, and two opportunities to see a performance at Dallas Children’s Theater.

Enter below for Glory Denied tickets.

UPDATE:  We have our winners. Thanks for playing.
