Congratulations to Rajesh Jyothiswaran of Murphy, the winner of the Flickr Photo of the Week contest. This is Rajesh’s first time to grab the Flickr gold. He follows last week’s winner Daniel Piatt.

If you would like to participate in the Flickr Photo of the Week contest, all you need to do is upload your photo to our Flickr group page. It’s fine to submit a photo you took earlier than the current week, but we are hoping that the contest will inspire you to go out and shoot something fantastic this week to share with Art&Seek users. If the picture you take involves a facet of the arts, even better. The contest week will run from Tuesday to Monday, and the Art&Seek staff will pick a winner on Friday afternoon. We’ll notify the winner through FlickrMail (so be sure to check those inboxes) and ask you to fill out a short survey to tell us a little more about yourself and the photo you took. We’ll post the winners’ photo on Tuesday.

Rajesh Square PhotoNow here’s more from Rajesh:

Title of photo: “Marina Sunset”

Equipment: Sony ILCE-7RM2

Tell us more about your photo: I chanced upon this cozy little marina on Lake Lavon on a cold dreary day exactly a year ago with someone that is now no more. I had wanted to go back when the light conditions were better. Fittingly, this time when I was there, the heavens put on a brilliant show as if to celebrate my friend’s memory.

I did not have a wide angle lens or a tripod with me. Instead all I had with me was a 45 year old vintage manual Pentax 50mm lens on my Sony a7Rii camera. Also the ground was a thick mess of clay after the rains the previous night.

As the sun went down over the horizon, I shot this 1/5 sec exposure using my left knee for supporting the camera while crouching low to balance myself.
