Congratulations to Sandra Kent of Dallas, the winner of the Flickr Photo of the Week contest. This is the second time Sandra has grabbed the Flickr Gold in our little contest. Her first win came in July, 2015. She follows last week’s winner Robin Washburn of Dallas.

If you would like to participate in the Flickr Photo of the Week contest, all you need to do is upload your photo to our Flickr group page. It’s fine to submit a photo you took earlier than the current week, but we are hoping that the contest will inspire you to go out and shoot something fantastic this week to share with Art&Seek users. If the picture you take involves a facet of the arts, even better. The contest week will run from Tuesday to Monday, and the Art&Seek staff will pick a winner on Friday afternoon. We’ll notify the winner through FlickrMail (so be sure to check those inboxes) and ask you to fill out a short survey to tell us a little more about yourself and the photo you took. We’ll post the winners’ photo on Tuesday.

Title of photo: “Sun Shining Through Flowers”

Equipment: Sony

Tell us more about your photo: I took the photo at the Dallas Arboretum when the white blossoms explode with radiance from Cherry Trees each spring. My photography club met there as a group to take photos. I was wondering what would be a good focal point in the photo of the Cherry Blossoms to draw the eye of the viewer to the most important part of the image. Then I got the idea to shoot directly into the light and make the sun the area I wanted to highlight. The sun’s rays lit up the white blossoms like a spotlight. The sun was a little off center to apply the rule of thirds in composition. The Dallas Arboretum is a magical place in every season but it was especially beautiful during the month of March.
