Congratulations to Greg Westfall of Fort Worth, the winner of the Flickr Photo of the Week contest. Greg has won our little contest multiple times. His last win came in July of last year. He follows last week’s winner Fabio Bonasera of Pisa, Italy.
If you would like to participate in the Flickr Photo of the Week contest, all you need to do is upload your photo to our Flickr group page. It’s fine to submit a photo you took earlier than the current week, but we are hoping that the contest will inspire you to go out and shoot something fantastic this week to share with Art&Seek users. If the picture you take involves a facet of the arts, even better. The contest week will run from Tuesday to Monday, and the Art&Seek staff will pick a winner on Friday afternoon. We’ll notify the winner through FlickrMail (so be sure to check those inboxes) and ask you to fill out a short survey to tell us a little more about yourself and the photo you took. We’ll post the winners’ photo on Tuesday.
Now here’s more from Greg:
Title of photo: Overpass
Equipment: Canon 1DsMkII converted to 720nm infrared; 35mm lens
Tell us about your photo: I took this photo coming into Fort Worth through the west mix master (I-30 and Loop 820W) through my car window at 75mph at about high noon, which is the best time for infrared. I have used my 1Ds for so long I often shoot without even looking through the view finder and have shot quite a bit out of moving vehicles (one hand on the wheel and both eyes on the road, I promise). I shot as many as I could going through the mix master and this was the best one. The infrared processing will leave a blue cast that can be corrected, but I liked it in this shot, as it gave a real gritty, very urban feel.
