They blinked. Fort Worth Symphony management chose not to implement pay cuts on Monday for its musicians, the “Fort Worth Star-Telegram” reports.

The musicians’ union says the 8 percent wage cut has not been forced on musicians, and the musicians will meet to discuss possible re-negotiations.The pay cut was a result of months of contract discussions.

The musician’s union asked for pay raises in a proposed four-year contract, while management has proposed the pay cut, largely through the reduction of paid time off, as the orchestra has operated with deficits for several years.

Last week, musicians voted to authorize a strike and also rejected what management had called its final offer, which would’ve been implemented Monday.
