1309_silencedsaint_mainlogoThe Fort Worth Opera, and all of us at Art&Seek, invite you to an event we’re so excited about that we’re putting it on twice – in Dallas and Fort Worth.  Join us for Portrait of a Silenced Saint Tuesday Oct. 1 at the Latino Cultural Center in Dallas and Wed. Oct. 2 at the Fort Worth Modern.

Portrait of a Silenced Saint  is a special evening of music and insight to introduce you to With Blood, With Ink, which will make its professional world premiere next year during the Fort Worth Opera Festival.  The opera centers on the story of Sor (Sister) Juana Inéz de la Cruz, a Mexican theologian, poetess, nun, and today, a revered icon among Mexicans and Mexican-Americans. Join us for a lively conversation about how the opera came together, and why Sor Juana is considered a pioneer of women’s rights and equality. The opera’s composer, Daniel Crozier, librettist, Peter M. Krask, and FWOpera General Director Darren K. Woods will participate in the discussion. Art&Seek’s Jerome Weeks will moderate, and make sure the audience has plenty of opportunity to join the conversation.

If you have preconceived ideas about opera (stuffy, boring, hard to follow) this evening will definitely blow your mind. Selections of the opera will be performed and  Ballet Folklorico troupe Sol de Fort Worth will get us in a festive mood  for the evening during a reception before the discussion. Tickets are $35. Register for the Dallas event or the Fort Worth event.

See you there.
