Friday Morning Roundup

by Stephen Becker 11 Jan 2013 7:51 AM

Today in the roundup: A Museum Tower update, a rolling theater premiere headed to town and KXT listeners pick the best music of 2012

CTA TBD

MUSEUM TOWER UPDATE: It looks like Museum Tower is close to having a new owner … maybe. Developer Jack Matthews has offered to buy the building. But on Thursday, Dallas Police and Fire Pension administrator Richard Tettamant told dallasnews.com that it could be months before a decision is made. The News also reports that other groups have expressed an interest in purchasing the tower, which held its opening celebration Thursday night.

A ROLLING PREMIERE: The National New Play Network has announced that Dallas will be a stop on its 34th Rolling World Premiere. The concept is that the NNPN produces a new play and then takes it to multiple cities. Kitchen Dog Theater will be the second stop for Se Llama Cristina, by Octavio Solis. And it’s fitting that the show is coming here – Solis plied his craft in Dallas way back in the 1980s. Mark May 24-June 22 on your calendar.

THE BEST OF KXT: Our little buddies over at KXT 91.7 have announced the results of its Best of 2012 Listeners’ Poll. Topping the list of favorite songs is Of Monsters and Men’s “Little Talks.” And congratulations to the Lumineers for landing two songs in the Top 10, “Stubborn Love” and “Ho, Hey.” The top album honor goes to Mumford and Sons’ Babel.
