Earlier today, I mentioned Tommy Lee Jones and Wes Anderson as prominent Texans who earned Oscar nominations. But a little further down the list is a name that might not be quite so familiar: Ron Judkins. He graduated from SMU’s Meadows School for the Arts in 1975, and today he learned that he’s been nominated for his work mixing the sound for Lincoln.

And this won’t be Judkins’ first walk down the red carpet. He’s already bagged Oscars for Saving Private Ryan and Jurassic Park, and he was nominated for Schindler’s List and War of the Worlds. In case you haven’t picked up on the trend by now, he’s basically Steven Spielberg’s sound guy.

You can read more about him on the Meadows School’s website.
