Flickr Photo of the Week

Congratulations to John Johnson of Fort Worth, the winner of the Flickr Photo of the Week contest! When we hear back from him, we’ll post his thoughts on his photo below. He follows our previous week’s winner, Thorpe Griner.

If you would like to participate in the Flickr Photo of the Week contest, all you need to do is upload your photo to our Flickr group page. It’s fine to submit a photo you took earlier than the current week, but we are hoping that the contest will inspire you to go out and shoot something fantastic this week to share with Art&Seek users. If the picture you take involves a facet of the arts, even better. The contest week will run from Monday to Sunday, and the Art&Seek staff will pick a winner on Monday afternoon. We’ll notify the winner through FlickrMail (so be sure to check those inboxes) and ask you to fill out a short survey to tell us a little more about yourself and the photo you took. We’ll post the winners’ photo on Wednesday.

Title of photo: On the Way Home from Austin
Equipment: iPhone 4S and my wife holding the steering wheel for me
Tell us more about your photo: My family and I were driving home from a great visit to Austin.  I was watching the clouds do some interesting things with the sun behind them (and watching the road too!) when I couldn’t stand it any more and asked my wife if she could hold the wheel for a minute while I tried to capture the image with the only camera I could quickly grab – my iPhone.

    John’s Flickr page is one of my favorites. He makes it look easy, His photos always seem to capture a moment, or tell a story.

    No surprise here…John is the best photographer I know. He is completely one with the camera and he gets shots that are truly fabulous all the time!
    Congrats to you John, you deserve it. This photo is breathtaking! Although I can’t believe you took it with your iphone with Kim holding the steering wheel, that’s hilarious!
