Now that tune took me back to the discos in Bahrain back in 70s. Another one the deejays played incessantly was Santa Esmeralda’s version of “Please Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” – the loooooooooooonnnnnnngggggg version, of course.

    • Anonymous

I cant play the super long version, but I will rock the short one fo sho

      • Lastangelman

Aw heck, I wouldn’t expect anyone to play the long version on radio, this ain’t the seventies anymore. I remember the deejays doing live extended versions of dance tracks, lasting thirty to forty minutes, to keep people on the dance floor, sometimes dropping odd stuff in the middle without missing a beat, sort of like versions of “scratching” and “sampling”, using three turntables at once.

Paul, you might find Movits! interesting. They’re a Swedish Electro Swing band that I found about six months ago. Very upbeat and fun to listen to, even if you don’t speak Swedish. You can find a number of videos on YouTube, and they’ve got two or three albums on Amazon.

This is an early-mid ’70s nugget of joy for me: Sopwith Camel “Fazon”. The album was named “The Miraculous Hump returns from the Moon”. Love your show on KXT!

  • Hi. Ive been listening to your show recently, during my 45 min drives to visit some friends, and I dig your selections. U ask for requests so I’ll drop a couple. First off (if you dont know already) is a band called Alpha ( http://www.alphaheaven.com . ) Id like to suggest the cut ‘Delaney’ . See if youd like to include it and others of theirs on the program. Also, ‘ When The Night Comes Falling From The Sky’ by Jeff Healey Band would be a treat..

  • Hi Paul,
So strange and wonderful to hear the opening track from Hall & Oates’ Abandoned Luncheonette. Don’t think I’ve heard it in 35 years. Next week, can you play an old Bowie chestnut, “Be My Wife,” from Low? Thanks for all you do!
