Happy Birthday! The show’s hardly started, and I already know what I want to request for next week.

Could you PLEASE play Tracey Thorn’s song “Dreamy” from her album A Distant Shore??? Pretty please with a cherry on top? I’ve already asked you to play her a hundred times, but that jewel of an album (+ every strum of guitar string + every inflection in her voice) deserves some radio recognition. I will be one happy radio listener if you play that track. As an added bonus, if you play that track I will never request Tracey Thorn again…. unless you want me to!

I’d be even more pleased if you played these tracks too (but not pleased if instead of Tracey Thorn):
    * Estrella Morente, “La noche de mi amor”
    * Godz, “Eleven”
    * Can “The Fall of Another Year”

And I’m gonna renew my membership (…as soon as I stop distracting myself from finishing my thesis due tomorrow!) Even though I no longer live in Dallas, and even if this is the only show I listen to regularly, and even though I’m currently living off student loans, your show makes it worth the support. …must….finish thesis!

Cool sounds so far! Mayhaps you could be persuaded to play some Vinyl. Pieces from the Flea Market disc that may work are “Ballpeen Hammer” or “Dirtman Dub” and from the self-titled recording you might appreciate “Pipe Bomb” or “Funk In 5-4.” Oh yeah…I can’t remember the last time I heard Brazilian Girls on your show. The track “Corner Store” is quite enjoyable if you wanna spin it on a future show.

Happy Birthday Paul!! Love you brother and love the show!!!

We just re-upped our membership and happy to do it! So glad the music is back on Public radio in big D.

Great choice on the Donna Summer tune. Born in ’63 I was child of the 70s and entered adulthood in the 80s (Geez… I didn’t stand a chance! LOL)

Thanks to the documentary It Might Get Loud, I am now a Jack White fan…
    – Anything off his new solo record
    – You Don’t Understand Me with The Raconteurs
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DiwN1LHfOU&feature=colike

And Jennifer and I already have our tickets for Dead Can Dance in Austin on 9/7/12; they are playing the Moody Theater (Austin City Limits!)

So how about The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove

  • Happy Birthday, Paul! I think someone has already requested Juliet by Robin Gibbs, who passed away earlier today. I’d like to request either Juliet or Boys Do Fall In Love. He will be missed.

Now off to make my pledge:-)

Nature’s Way by Spirit. Also how about some Piedmont Blues like West coast blues by Blind Blake or anything by Etta baker.

sure thing, did you hear me read your FB comment?

    • Ray Worth

One of my sons has been a Blind Blake fan since he was 10 (ok- he’s a strange kid but in a good way). I told him I would buy him a Fender Stratocaster if he learned West Coast Blues (a good one, not the cheap Mexican version). So far I haven’t had to buy the guitar 🙂

KXT has exposed me to so many great bands, one of which is Deertick. Today I discovered that some members of the band have joined forces with other talents to create the band Diamond Rugs. I live for moments like today when I first heard Diamond Rugs. Thanks KXT and The Paul Slavens Show for keeping great music on the air.
