Hey Paul, good show as always. You mentioned that you’re playing Dirty Projectors tonight which is awesome. Here’s a Dirty Projector’s related song you might want to play next week. The song is called “Get Free” by Major Lazer. This song in particular features the vocals of Amber Coffman of Dirty Projectors.

I love that Life Aquatic Soundtrack, been a while since I played any. thanks

      • Jenkins Samuel

        thats why im here.

    • Oh hilarious. I just requested Ping Island / Lightning Strike. I’ve got this soundtrack on the brain lately.

  • Philip

I’m so jealous you get to see Dirty Projectors. I would love to see Longstreth’s outrageous vocalization live, and those background singers (if “background” is the right word), whew!

Some tracks I would love you to consider playing:

Morcheeba, “Let Me See (ft. Talib Kweli)”
Townes Van Zandt, “I’ll be Here in the Morning”
    Zubz, “Time to Heal”
    J Dilla, “Two Can Win”
    Devendra Banhart, “Carmensita”
    A Tribe Called Quest, “Excursions”
Blackalicious, “Make You Feel that Way”

C’mon, we need more GOOD hip hop on the radio. Public radio is our only hope, but they tend to overlook hip hop, mostly because clean lyrics are hard to come by.

    • Jenkins Samuel

Its an instrumental check it out. my favorite instrumental of all time.
Real Live – Crime is Money. paul give it a listen as well. method man raps over it in a radio studio. not clean but beautiful and fill with truth as you can always expect from the wu.

    • Anonymous

you pretty much nailed it. well , this is the way to do it, you find the tracks that are clean and let me know what you think is worth hearing, I would love to play more hiphop

There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to — The Outer Limits.

The Tibetan or Tuvan throat singing was pretty far out. I can no longer sing like that due to having my uvula surgically removed. Bummer, one less of my ever-so-popular talents.

This is the third time I try this – I always get caught up in the program and then it’s too late to blog.
I would like to suggest a few of my favorite artists:
Anything by Paul Thorn – especially his acoustic music. By the way, he is performing at the Kessler on May 18th.
Daniel Market – A singer / songwriter from Indiana that crafts some very deep and musical songs. One of his albums is available on Amazon and I have the rest of his music if you like.
Adele singing The Steeldriver’s song “If It Hadn’t Been For Love.” I think that this is only available as a Japanese import.

    • Anonymous

I been trying to find the right Thorn for the show for the last couple weeks, got a specific request?

Paul is releasing a new album on Tuesday May 8th. One of the songs is a cover of Ray Wiley Hubbard’s “Snake Farm.” I also enjoy “Ain’t Love Strange.”

The Dandy Warhols – ‘Bohemian Like You’ – ‘Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia’

Crazy Ted use to make some good Rock N Roll. And don’t forget Amboy Dukes and songs like ‘Journey to the Center of The Mind’.

    • Jerem69

I haven’t heard the Nuge’ since he brought some of his gun collection onstage at Billy Bob’s. What a wildman! I saw him in the ’70s and he was jumping on and off of the stacks in mid-riff. Humanimal!

      • Thom

I saw him at TCCC. Foreigner was one of the backup bands. It was a great show. This song always stood apart because of the vocals.

Paul, I really like Norah Jones’s latest collection. It’s pretty hard to pick just one, so if you’ve had a chance to listen to it, I would love for you to pick one. Thanks.

  • Mr. Slavens,
I really like your sunday evening show. You get mad props for the Gogol Bordello song.
you should check out “Well Enough Alone” by me, Ben Ernest Nelson. It is some solid acoustic protest music.

A few months ago someone requested a Carly Simon Song. I really like “You Can Close Your Eyes” written by James Taylor and sung by Carly Simon & Ben Taylor. It might be a nice opening number for next week. This is the only video I can find:
