The drummer for the Police stopped by the studios this a.m. for a chat.

CTA TBD

Stewart Copeland cracks Jerome up.

Stewart Copeland, composer for stage and screen, and oh yeah, drummer for The Police, stopped by the studios today to talk to KXT’s Gini Mascorro and Art&Seek’s Jerome Weeks. Listen for Gini’s interview with Copeland at 8:30 a.m. Friday on KXT 91.7 FM.

Copeland is in town for a residency at SMU. The Meadows Percussion Ensemble will present several of Copeland’s works in concert this evening. Also performing will be John Bryant and Jamal Mohamed, members of D’Drum, the group that worked with Copeland last year on an original piece performed with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Copeland won’t be performing tonight, but he will attend.  Details here.

And he will also give a public lecture at SMU on Friday afternoon, discussing his varied music career, including his time with The Police. Details on that one here. Jerome’ll report back on Copeland’s time at SMU next week on Art&Seek and KERA FM.
