Wednesday Morning Roundup

by Stephen Becker 18 Jan 2012 8:01 AM

Today in the roundup: Joyce Yang returns, our museum directors speak and Artisan Center Theater’s amazing bargain.

CTA TBD

FROM THE DIRECTOR: Some of our local museum directors are getting more into the blogging life. Amon Carter director Andrew Walker blogs from a meeting of the Association of Art Museum Directors. They’re talking about ways to get younger members to the museum and are even considering a little art-related speed dating. Meanwhile, new DMA director Maxwell Anderson posts for the first time on the museum’s Uncrated blog. He also suggests you follow him on Twitter @MaxAndersonUSA.

JOYCE RETURNS: 2005 Cliburn Competition silver medalist Joyce Yang returned to Fort Worth Tuesday night for a recital at Bass Hall. Scott Cantrell goes piece by piece in his dallasnews.com review, which is mostly positive with a quibble here and there. Meanwhile, Olin Chism was particularly interested in his dfw.com review in the commentary Yang provided about her selections througout the night.

THE UTILITY MAN: Artisan Center Theater is getting quiet a bargin with its current show, All Hands on Deck. The 1940s style musical review was written by Jody Madaras, who also stars in the show. Which he also directed. And choreographed. (And designed the sets for.) He talks about wearing all those hats in an interview with theaterjones.com.
