by Paul Slavens 20 Nov 2011 7:48 PM

This is where you can make your suggestions for music to be played on future shows. Remember, I can’t play requests on tonight’s show, but I still need your music ideas to make next weeks show.

Here is a suggestion for you Paul:
The Lotus Eaters by Dead Can Dance from ‘Dead Can Dance (1981-1998)’

  • Ray Worth

How about Lightnin Hopkins or Sonny Landreth next week.

  • Rayne

Any Gong? Not even the song “Pothead Pixies”?

  • Sam

Muppet Theme Song by OK GO from Muppets Green Album.

  • Coy

No suggestions tonight, just a comment: We felt our baby kick for the first time during the Paul Slavens show! Pretty sure this is a good sign! She is ready to rock.

  • heather

    Thee Oh Sees!!

  • Trent P.

Listening from Oklahoma on Tune-In radio app for the iPhone. Please keep playing the great music. It’s such a refreshing change from Country and Classic Rock flooded market.

  • heather

Black Lips- everyone is doing it

    • Paul Slavens

      Great ! Thanks !
Coy, congrats on the baby and how nice that heshe is already kicking out the jams

  • Enjoying the show. Suggestions:

    The Residents- Perfect Love
The Residents- The act of being polite
The Residents- Third Reich n Roll

  • paul muller

The Bluegrass Band “Loose Ties” did an excellent version of Sting’s song “Englishman in New York”. If you can find a copy of their cover, you might be pleasantly surprised with the song, even if you’re not a big Bluegrass fan.

  • Paul

Paradise by Springsteen off the rising album

  • heather

    Tom Waits- bad as me

  • heather

    Wallpaper-shaft carpet

    • Paul Slavens

Thanks a bunch, these all look like fun
@Regan- my heart is all atwitter. thanks

  • Next week: Black Friday by Steely Dan.

  • Thom

Also, I would really to hear some ‘Jesus and Mary Chain’. You choose.

  • Trent P.

    Diana Krall would be cool.

  • James

I think the show would be hurt by some tropicalia. I would love to hear London, London by Caetano Veloso.

  • James

    would NOT be hurt. 🙂

  • heather

    Not too loud or hard…what?!

    • Paul Slavens

As far as stuff I play on the show , I avoid songs that are:
      more than 6 minutes
very soft or ambient (these tracks are usually really long anyways)
too loud , especially with lots of distorted electric guitar, ( unless its a pretty short song)
containing dirty words that will get me in trouble.
really terrible things you can hear on some other station
      Ten Hands
things I have already played recently.

  • rikster

Hey Paul,Great show as usual How about some Neil young from the (sleeps with angels) “trans am” are “safeway cart”

  • Yet Another James

I’d love to hear some more Dumpstaphunk. You pick the track.

  • Trent P.

My former band is disqualified on: too loud, too much distorted guitar, and too offensive. But, I think the longest thing we ever played was a swing version of Danzig’s “Mother”.
Paul, I like what you’re playing.

  • Katie O

I’m here in San Francisco, listening live to your show via KXT “listen live” There’s nothing like this here in SF! I’ve recently discovered Shel Silverstein’s tribute album; Twistable, Turnable Man. So many great songs. How about “The Unicorn” by Dr. Dog or Andrew Bird’s amazing version of “twistable, turnable man” on the same album!

    • Paul Slavens

@katie: nice to have you along from all the way out there.
I have that recording and yes it is a groovy one. I havent played anything off of it for quite some time
I would love to get it going again next week
      thanks

  • Andrew

Gordon Lightfoot’s “Minstrel of the Dawn” is a beautiful song that time and radio has overlooked. Have you ever heard it before? It starts out in a 3/4 waltz and ends in 4/4 time. The studio version is heavy on the strings, however, you can see a raw live version from 1972 on Youtube:

  • Susan

Would love to hear some Ditty Bops one of these Sundays. Thanks, Paul! We listen every week.

  • rikster

How about some”Big Head Todd and the Monsters” u pick.

  • redz

Heyyyy Paul – great show as EVER. *LOVED* Hunter Hendrickson! 16 years old? Crikey. Sounds like he’s been gargling with razor blades his whole life. More of him!

Still waiting for some Renaissance (Midas Man or Mother Russia); anything by Tom Lehrer, and how about some:

    Kosheen – Hungry
    A.K.A.C.O.D. – anything (post-Morphine band)
    Emiliana Torrini – anything
    Jimmy Durante – anything

And since next Sunday is the official start of the Christmas season (yikes) how about:

The original ‘You’re a mean one Mr. Grinch’
    Oi to the World
    Christmas Wrapping (Waitresses)

    Happy holidays! 🙂

    • Paul Slavens

Thanks so much everybody, next weeks show is shaping up to be a really fun one.
      see you next week
      happy holidays !

  • Kurt

Jane Siberry – “Calling All Angels”. From the album “When I was a Boy”.
    good stuff!
