Congratulations to Jennifer M. Ramos of Austin, the winner of the Flickr Photo of the Week contest!

CTA TBD

Congratulations to Jennifer M. Ramos of Austin, the winner of the Flickr Photo of the Week contest! This is Jennifer’s first win in our contest. She follows last week’s winner, Levent Kahveci.

If you would like to participate in the Flickr Photo of the Week contest, all you need to do is upload your photo to our Flickr group page. It’s fine to submit a photo you took earlier than the current week, but we are hoping that the contest will inspire you to go out and shoot something fantastic this week to share with Art&Seek users. If the picture you take involves a facet of the arts, even better. The contest week will run from Monday to Sunday, and the Art&Seek staff will pick a winner on Monday afternoon. We’ll notify the winner through FlickrMail (so be sure to check those inboxes) and ask you to fill out a short survey to tell us a little more about yourself and the photo you took. We’ll post the winners’ photo on Wednesday.

Now, here’s more from Jennifer:

Title of photo: Ballet Folklorico
Equipment: Canon EOS 5D Mark II, EF135mm f/2L USM
Tell us more about your photo: I love shooting the State Fair. I don’t ride anything, and I eat very little. With my camera, I see it all and it’s as if I’m not even there. There’s no way to be disappointed by a ride that was too short or food that was too expensive. It’s a challenge to see basically the same things, three years in a row, but to see them differently. My favorite parts of the State Fair are the cultural performances, the Midway and the Creative Arts Building. For this shot, I spent a good deal of time awkwardly positioning myself, waiting for the right skirt twirl, battling the sun’s position, and trying not to obscure anyone else’s view. It was so much fun, and I was sore the next day!
