DALLAS OPERA HONORS BIG DONORS: Seven individual donors or foundations have given multimillion-dollar gifts to the Dallas Opera this century. Those are good friends to have. So to honor them, the opera unveiled the 21st Century Wall of Honor last night. The wall is located in the west lobby of the Winspear Opera House. On the list: Phyllis and Tom McCasland, Mrs. Eugene McDermott, Margot and Ross Perot and the Perot Foundation, James R. Seitz Jr., Elsa Von Seggern Foundation, Margot and Bill Winspear and an anonymous donor.

DCT’S GOOD ‘BAD DAY’: Last weekend, Dallas Children’s Theater opened its season with Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. The title pretty much says everything you need to know about the plot, which follows a young boy on a particularly trying day – something kids in the audience seem to relate to. “It’s a tender reminder of how devastating it can be for a kid when mom forgets to put dessert in his lunch bag, his teacher suggests the blank page with his drawing of an invisible castle is ‘too creative’ and his best friend leaves him out of a game of tag at recess,” Nancy Churnin writes on dallasnews.com. The show is adapted from Judith Viorst’s slim picture book, miraculously filled out to last about 90 minutes. “Somehow, this one seems to have gotten thinner than most while on the stretching machine,” Mark Lowry writes on theaterjones.com. “It’s still pretty cute, though.” Catch it through Oct. 23.

LOCAL MUSIC BITS: With her new album out, St. Vincent is everywhere these days. She’ll play a pair of shows in October at the Kessler Theater. And earlier this week, she visited David Dye at the World Cafe for a four-song set, which you can now stream.
