Congratulations to Pankaj Sharma of Dallas, the winner of the Flickr Photo of the Week contest!

CTA TBD

Congratulations to Pankaj Sharma of Dallas, the winner of the Flickr Photo of the Week contest! This is Pankaj’s second victory; he previously won our contest in July with another nighttime photo. He follows last week’s winner, Claudia A. De La Garza.

If you would like to participate in the Flickr Photo of the Week contest, all you need to do is upload your photo to our Flickr group page. It’s fine to submit a photo you took earlier than the current week, but we are hoping that the contest will inspire you to go out and shoot something fantastic this week to share with Art&Seek users. If the picture you take involves a facet of the arts, even better. The contest week will run from Monday to Sunday, and the Art&Seek staff will pick a winner on Monday afternoon. We’ll notify the winner through FlickrMail (so be sure to check those inboxes) and ask you to fill out a short survey to tell us a little more about yourself and the photo you took. We’ll post the winners’ photo on Wednesday.

Now, here’s more from Pankaj:

Title of photo: Blue Hour at Rockwall Harbor
Equipment: Nikon D300s, Sigma 10-20mm ultra wide lens, shutter release cable and tripod
Tell us more about your photo: Rockwall is a great place, our own waterfront near Dallas! Two things are my favorite here: the lighthouse and the ever amazing sunset. I tried to combine both in this picture -a late sunset (when the blue hour sets in) and beautifully lit lighthouse. I also got some bonus in this shot – blue, orange and red lights and their reflection on the water surface, tail light streaks on I-30 in the background and an airplane light streak in the sky. Instant happiness! The light streaks, stillness of the water surface and the sparkle effect on all the light bulbs are due to the long exposure, narrow aperture combination.
