Peter Gabriel's Monthly Missive, Recorded in Dallas

by Anne Bothwell 16 Jun 2011 2:54 PM

Peter Gabriel’s show last night also included a little gem just in time for Fathers Day.

CTA TBD

Just found this monthly missive from Peter Gabriel, which he recorded yesterday while in town.

The last time I saw Gabriel in concert, he was bouncing around inside a giant ball.  Times have changed.  He’s on tour now with the New Blood Orchestra, and stopped last night at Verizon in Grand Prairie.  This was an elegant, mature and very, very mellow show. Lovely arrangements of “Solsbury Hill,” “Mercy Street” and a haunting version of Arcade Fire’s  “My Body is a Cage.”

Gabriel introduced “Father, Son,” explaining he was inspired to write it after breaking down while on a yoga retreat with his dad, who, in his 90s, has been practicing for decades.  The video accompanying the song made it all the more poignant – just in time for Father’s Day. You can see some of that in the song’s official video.
