Build a better Ross Avenue, Rachofsky House in Lego, Glasstire turns 10 and more.

CTA TBD

Building blocks, pt. 1: The Build a Better Block project is putting out the call for teams to turn Ross Avenue in Dallas into a temporary boulevard full of street life. Teams will be assigned segments of the street between Pearl and Washington (the stretch leading into the arts district…..) and will have 72 hours starting June 2 to execute their plans.  Details of the 72 Hour Challenge here. BBB’s Jason Roberts tells Dallas Observer’s Robert Wilonsky that they’re looking for architects, landscape architects and designers, yes, but also:

“It’s open to anyone who can form a team and who is place-making-minded, which would even include theater groups who can do staging. We’re trying to dispel the notion this can only be done by architects. Anyone can make a great place, and when you bring this mix of folks beyond just one discipline we’ll get great ideas we might not have thought of otherwise.”

Building blocks, pt. 2: FdLuxe gives us the Rachofsky House in Lego, courtesy of Cal Walsh, who works at the new Legoland Discovery Center at Grapevine Mills mall.

Nuggets: Happy birthday Glasstire. The online arts journal turns 10 and celebrates with a panel discussion this weekend in Fort Worth….Update on shooting the pilot for the new Dallas … One father-and-son experience at Autism Awareness day at the Dallas Museum of Art.
