The Cancellations from Arts Groups Have Started…

by Jerome Weeks 9 Feb 2011 12:51 PM

Basically, if you have a ticket for anything tonight or tomorrow night — or were planning on visiting a museum — you should call first.

CTA TBD

The Dallas Symphony has canceled its evening concert for Thursday, Feb. 10 (because today’s rehearsals got canned),  but the Friday, Saturday and Sunday concerts are currently going ahead as planned.

Nouveau 47 Theatre has delayed the opening of its production of William Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure — which it’s staging at Fair Park’s Magnolia Lounge, Margo Jones’ original home for her Theatre ’47 (hence, the company’s title).  The show now opens Wednesday, Feb. 16 because, again, of all the lost rehearsal time.

The Dallas Opera’s dress rehearsal tonight of Gounoud’s Romeo and Juliet has been canceled, but Friday evening’s performance is going on as scheduled.

And the Dallas Museum of Art is closed today. As is the Nasher Sculpture Center, the Crow Collection of Asian Art, the Amon Carter Museum, the Kimbell, the Dallas Contemporary, the Museum of Nature & Science in Dallas and the Tyler Museum of Art.

Dallas Theater Center’s ARSENIC AND OLD LACE will go on as scheduled tonight. Bundle up, head over to the Kalita Humphreys Theater and prepare to laugh out oud with Betty Buckely and Tovah Feldshuh. Show begins at 7:30p.
    Hope to see you there!
