The Event, a concert featuring Prince that was the benefit the Goss-Michael Foundation, has been canceled.

Here’s the statement just sent over from Goss-Michael Executive Director Joyce Goss:

“We are extremely disappointed that theEvent featuring Prince, scheduled for Friday, February 4, at the Intercontinental Hotel, has been canceled. It is our understanding that River Alexander Group, the event organizer, was unable to fund and produce the evening. The organizer came to The Goss-Michael Foundation, invited us to be the beneficiary and receive some of the proceeds which would have gone to our high school scholarship program.”

Sounds like weather didn’t play a part in this cancellation. Just last night, I spoke with Kenny Goss at an event at the Rachofsky House, and he talked as if the concert was still ago, even after it changed locations earlier this week. Judging from the quote above, it sounds as if the promoter dropped the ball.
