A Reason to Catch NBC's 'Chase'

by Jerome Weeks 19 Jan 2011 1:25 PM

Yes, there’s at least one. OK, so I stopped watching ‘Chase’ the second or third time that the tiny Kelli Giddish, playing U. S. Marshall Annie Frost, physically subdued some hulking villain mostly, it would appear, through what I’ve taken to calling “the power of her blondness.” But now comes word that a (major) Dallas stage actor will appear in a recurring (minor) role.

CTA TBD

OK, so I stopped watching Chase the second or third time that the tiny Kelli Giddish, playing U. S. Marshall Annie Frost — if ever a character name said “ice queen,” that’s the one  — physically subdued some hulking villain mostly, it would appear, through what I’ve taken to calling  “the power of her blondness.” At least over on the now-defunct Good Guys, Bradley Whitford didn’t take this TV-heroic stuff so grimly seriously. Plus, you got to see longer scenes with North Texas locations.

But now comes word that Dallas actor Steven Walters — currently commanding the stage in Second Thought Theatre’s Thom Pain (based on nothing) — will be playing a recurring character, a computer nerd-type.  He’s the guy, as Walters describes him, who’s always seen lit by the glow of a computer monitor while he pretends to type frantically. Tonight starts the two-part story.
