Paul – Are there any bands that you are hearing good things for in 2011 or artists who you know have albums coming out that you think might be good?

  • paul slavens

    hmm
Matthew and Arrogant Sea has a new one coming soon
I know that there are a couple bands recording, but I dont know how long until stuff is coming out. Theater Fire, Midlake, RTB2, Sabra Laval have all reported they are recording, but dont have anything solid yet as far as release dates.

I have been getting into a LOT of acoustice guitar music lately. Two recent items I caught on HDNet was a live performance by Dave Mathews and Tim Reynolds. Just them, 2 acoustic guitars and Tim added a slide and a whole rack of effects on the floor. Wow it was way better than I thought it would be. The other was a track from Rodrigo y Gabriela. Really great energy. Been lost to Sunday night football, good to ber listening again. The show is great as always.

    Cheers.

Hey Paul, thanks for the Louis Jordan.

    It was great!

  • If you haven’t already, check out New Fumes. He’s a Dallasite opening for Flaming Lips Feb. 3. A big part of his show are the visuals he creates, but the music’s good, too.

The Hope Trust has something coming out soon (pertaining to the earlier question.) I think I mentioned The Civil Wars a while ago–they have a debut album coming out soon. They were on Jay Leno earlier this week too and did a nice job.
