Tuesday Morning Roundup

by Stephen Becker 4 Jan 2011 7:56 AM

Today in the roundup: Uptown Players scores a Pulitzer-winner, more Super Bowl acts announced and checking on the Design District.

CTA TBD

A GOOD GET: The rock musical Next to Normal has won a couple of Tony Awards as well as the Pulitzer Prize since opening on Broadway in 2009. That pretty much guarantees it a tour, but as theaterjones.com reports, that tour won’t be coming to Dallas. That’s because Uptown Players has scored the rights to perform the show’s regional premiere this summer.

SUPER BOWL SINGERS: If you always thought Kid Rock and Duran Duran would make a nice pairing, you’re in luck! The two artists on opposite ends of the rock spectrum will share a bill on the Pepsi Super Bowl Fan Jam Feb. 3 at the Verizon Theater in Grand Prairie. Get all the details at dfw.com.

GLASSTIRE CHECKS IN: Glasstire.com has turned its gaze up I-45 from Houston for a couple of Dallas gallery notes. The visual arts site looks into a number of sculpture shows in the Design District, a recent Mary Walker Gallery show featuring Billy Zinser‘s Macrodons and passes along info on a juried show at 500X.
