Tuesday Morning Roundup

by Stephen Becker 21 Dec 2010 7:55 AM

Today in the roundup: What the Mavs are listening to, the year in Denton arts and AP’s top entertainment stories.

CTA TBD

LISTEN UP: The Mavericks won their 15th game in 16 tries last night, defeating Miami, 98-96, to end the Heat’s 12-game winning streak. And no, this did not turn into a sports blog overnight. But it seemed like something you should know as you listen to a playlist recommended by Jason Kidd, Shawn Marrion and Dirk Nowitzki.

BEST OF DENTON: It was a good year for the arts in Denton – and not just in music. Lucinda Breeding, who covers the arts for the Denton Record-Chronicle, has pieced together her list of the best in Denton arts for 2010. Sarah Jaffe and Doug Burr make the list, as you might expect. But a few names you may be less familiar with are also there.

THE BIG PICTURE: The Associated Press has revealed its list of the top entertainment stories of 2010. And it’s a handy reminder that “arts” and “entertainment” are not interchangeable. Need proof? No. 7 on the list is “Prince William Gets Engaged.” Not sure what’s so entertaining about that, outside of watching Kate Middleton wear that sweet flying saucer hat.
