I was not at a terminal; hence my silence last week. But I did catch most of the show. Thanks for the Social Distortion.

I have seen where you are a Frank Zappa fan. So, how about a Captain Beefheart (Don Van Vliet) tribute song next week? I vote for “Ella Guru” or “China Pig”. Read where he passed away a couple of days ago. Although not a big commercial success, his avant garde style was very influential. Also, a friend of FZ.

    yo yo yo
I am here and waiting for your transmissions

  • paul slavens

got a whole set of zappa and beefheart in the second hour of the show.

  • Patricia

I would love to hear The Woodentops. I am without my vinyl collection – have been for years – so it’s been a while. Love the variety you play. Before discovering KXT, I thought there was nothing worth staying in Dallas for. I still want to go back to NY, but at least I can listen to good music and try to make the best of it in this strange (to me) city. 😉

  • paul slavens

so glad you found a little something you like at our station.
you should try hanging out in Denton some weekend, it can be pretty fun, its my hometown.

  • Patricia

Uhm, how far is Demton from Dallas?
Since you played Duncan Sheik, how about David Poe, his fairly major collaborator? David’s music is lovely, in my opinion.

  • paul slavens

Denton is about 45 minutes north
its a great town, home of Univ of North Texas ,lots of musicians and cool bands playing often, cheap drinks and good people.

  • Gil

Anything from Godley and Creme would be cool. I’ve been looking for “consequences” (3 album set) or “L” and can’t find it. This stuff came after 10cc.
The Chett Atkins you just played was great!
My favorite Zappa is Burnt Weenie Sandwich.

  • Sarah Jane

We are driving back to Dallas from my folks house. 9 year old son would love to hear some Queen! Killer Queen is current fave. 🙂

  • Josh

Hi! Just found your show on a roadtrip down 287. Heard Solomon Snell for the first time and loved it. My station is staying on Kxt. Keep up the good work!

Also, could you play Mirrorball by Elbow? I’m really digging that track right now.

  • Patricia

Sounds interesting. Will have to check it out. I know it’s a major music scene.

  • Jesse

I wouldn’t mind hearing Kunek or the Other Lives. As Patricia mentioned, I really like the variety.

  • listener mark

Paul, Thanks for playing my favorite Lou Reed song. xxmp

  • paul slavens

thanks for the suggestions and nice comments
I love Queen, but I dont have any this week, but I will for sure play some next week, dont twist my arm !!!! Thats one of my fave Queen albums.

  • David C

I am glad to know Beefheart is getting some Diddy Wah Diddy time tonight. May he R.I.P.

Props to playing Stereo Total. I love those quirky casiotones. I was amazed to find them on the air. Speaking of synths, I got some chiptune recommendations. The Depreciation Guild is a brilliant combination of chiptune and shoegaze. She is another chiptune artist I love, namely by her album Colouris.

On other suggestion I have is to look at the neofolk compilation “Whom the Moon a Nightsong Sings”.

  • paul slavens

thanks for all the interesting tidbits david

    Hey, Paul.
Been a fan for years, but never posted anything. Have you ever heard the song “Drifting” off the 4 Non Blondes album Bigger, Better, Faster, More? Beautiful song by an underrated band, and I can’t find anyone else who knows it. Just curious… Love your show!
