The Barry Whistler Gallery — which is showing Allison V. Smith’s current exhibition, Maine, through Nov. 17 — will be hosting a gallery conversation between Smith and collector Dan Routman tomorrow at 2 p.m. You may recall Smith’s photos of Marfa, Texas — you can see her Think TV interview here.

I’ve been a huge Allison V. Smith stalker…er…fan and follower for many years. It was her musician photographs and the ones she would post from her vacations in Maine that initially drew me to her work. She’s a wonderful photographer and a very lovely human. I have a few of her books, including “Reflection of a Man,” which she helped bring to publication about the photography of her grandfather, Stanley Marcus.

This is a wonderful exhibit and any conversations you can join in on with Allison are worth even a road trip from San Antonio!
