Dallas Opera Calling for Pectoral Muscles Not Singing Chops

by Jerome Weeks 7 Oct 2010 3:03 PM

It’s not a joke, they tell us. But the production of Donizetti’s ‘Anna Bolena’ (aka Anne Boleyn — as in Henry VIII’s second, short-lived wife) could use a couple of muscular fellows willing to be bare-chested onstage at the Winspear beginning Oct. 29. No singing necessary.

CTA TBD

Suzanne Calvin, the PR director of the Dallas Opera, says it’s not a joke. She passed along this e-mail from their production staff:

The director of Anna Bolena is looking for two (2) well-defined muscular men of impressive size to be two stags with antlers wrestling onstage shirtless and barefoot.  Does anyone have someone they could recommend?  We need them ASAP!
