Tuesday Morning Roundup

by Stephen Becker 14 Sep 2010 7:48 AM

Today in the roundup: VideoFest news, making your opera debut and tracking Eve Sussman’s trip to North Texas.

CTA TBD

BART CHAT: VideoFest rolls at the Angelika Film Center in Dallas beginning next Thursday. If you can’t believe it’s been a year since last year’s event, that’s because it hasn’t. This year’s edition has been moved up about two months from last year’s. VideoFest artistic director Bart Weiss talks about the event in the latest edition of Bart Chat.

YOUR OPERA DEBUT: If you’ve sat in the Winspear Opera House and dreamed of one day taking that stage, your time has come. The Dallas Opera is looking for supernumeraries for this season. For the uninitiated, supernumeraries are the extras who fill the stage and play the nonsinging background characters. If that sounds like something you might be interested in, more details are here.

QUOTABLE: “It immediately empowers you on a different level as soon as you are a company. So, of course, I’m a company. Why wouldn’t everyone just be a company?”

– Eve Sussman, who formed Rufus Corporation ahead of her weeklong trip to North Texas, which begins today. The multimedia artist spoke with dallasnews.com about her upcoming local stops.
