Looking spiffy, eh? Well, the arts are changing in North Texas and so are we!

We’re coming up on Art&Seek’s second birthday, and to celebrate, we’ve made some significant improvements to artandseek.org. We’ve got a new look, a new microsite, a YouTube channel, improved search function, and more.

In just one place, we’ve put all our blog posts with the reviews, news features and interviews that we produce for KERA and KXT radio and KERA TV.  And we’ve added digests that sum up each post to make scanning easier.  That rotating photo gallery clicks through to some of our bigger stories and makes the site more visual (We are, after all, about the arts.)

Click through on a post and you’ll find related stories under most posts, our groovy tag cloud and a nifty box for recent posts, recent comments and our archives.

Hello Fort Worth! We now have a microsite devoted to all our recent Fort Worth coverage.  The site also breaks out calendar listings and coverage for some of the city’s larger venues.  This  mirrors  our Dallas Arts District microsite. We’ll be tweaking both, so let us know your thoughts.

Our calendar and daily highlights are all in one place:  More than 2,400 arts organizations and venues are on the Art&Seek calendar. If it’s happening in arts, music, culture in North Texas, you can find it here. If you have an event to share, it’s easy to do. Just submit it.

Our search function is improved. You can now search the entire site, including the calendar.

A couple of handy hints:

  • Results from our calendar show up first. If you scroll down, you’ll find radio, television and blog content.
  • Like Google, our search function gets more precise if you use quote marks: “Kimbell Art Museum”

We’re excited about our new YouTube channel, where all of our video stories are available. You’ll see tweaks to that in the coming weeks. Subscribe and watch us grow.

And now we can see your smiling mug when you join us on Facebook and your Flickr photos are easier to see, too.

Web sites are constantly evolving, and this one will too. (For this, we send a big shout-out to Alan Melson, KERA/KXT’s interactive director.)

Please share your ideas, what works, where you get hung up. You can leave a comment or e-mail Anne directly at [email protected].

And thank you for joining us at Art&Seek, and its online community for the arts in North Texas.  We wouldn’t be here two years later without your support, your guest blogs, comments and contributions.
