Military Families Admitted Free This Summer at 10 North Texas Museums

Ten North Texas museums are part of a nationwide effort called Blue Star Museums that will provide free admission to military families this summer. The 10 museums join more than 600 in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.

Ten North Texas museums are part of a nationwide effort called Blue Star Museums that will provide free admission to military families this summer. The 10 museums join more than 600 in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. The free offer for active duty military personnel and their families runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Area museums include the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth, Dallas Heritage Village, the Dallas Museum of Art, the Meadows Museum at SMU, Museum of Geometric and MADI Art in Dallas, Museum of the American Railroad in Dallas, Nasher Sculpture Center, the National Scouting Museum in Irving, the Pearce Civil War and Western Art Museum in Corsicana, the Red River Historical Museum in Sherman and the Tyler Museum of Art in Tyler.

To gain free access, people must present a Geneva Conventions Common Access Card or a Department of Defense ID.

  • Since the Amon Carter Museum’s permanent collection and special exhibitions are always free, we are offering active military families a free collection catalogue as part of the Blue Star Museum program from Memorial Day to Labor Day.     Would be nice to include retired military and their families too, but so often their service is forgotten. “only Active Duty”, never mind the 22 years you put in…those in for 2 years and id get in free.
