A WINDOW INTO SOUTH KOREA: For years, the only way anyone in North Texas was ever going to see a film from South Korea was to either catch it at a festival or drop by one of our art house theaters. But Paul Shin is working to change that. Through his company, JS Media & Entertainment, the Korean immigrant has worked with AMC Theaters to get first-run Korean movies to regularly play in Grapevine. “When you think about films from Asia, it’s either martial arts or an old, traditional film. It’s not really representing the culture very well,” he tells dallasnews.com. “But this is a good opportunity to understand the Asian community.”

BEHIND THE BLOG: ARTicles, the blog of the National Arts Journalism Program, recently spoke with Art&Seek director Anne Bothwell about all things arts journalism. Like Jerome and I, Anne also is a newspaper vet who made the jump to radio, TV and the Web by coming over to KERA. She talks about making that transition and about Art&Seek being a “community-based arts initiative” in the interview.

THEATER BITS: Amphibian Stage Productions’ Kathleen Anderson Culebro discusses what drove her to write La Llorona, which Amphibian staged. (fwweekly.com) … Mark Lowry says that Persephone, Queen of the Dead is the best thing he’s seen yet from MBS Productions. (theaterjones.com) … Tashina Richardson of Sundown Collaborative Theatre is one of the guests on the current This Week in the Arts podcast. (thisweekinthearts.com)
