ART IMITATING LIFE: Dallas actress Connie Colt has worked in the theater for the better part of four decades. So you might think all she had to do was show up to play Esme, the lifelong actress at the center of Theatre Three’s Amy’s View. But Colt says while she shares a lot with Esme on the surface, that’s where the similarities end. “In my personal life, I don’t want to be perceived as acting like her in her self-centeredness,” she tells dallasnews.com. “I can empathize with all of her feelings, but I wouldn’t react the same way.”

MUSIC BITS: The O’s have released a video for their song “Bowling Green.” … (quickdfw.com) … In April, Roky Erickson will release his first new album in 14 years (DC9 at Night) … Western swing fans can enter to win a chance to meet Asleep at the Wheel when the band plays the Glass Cactus on Jan. 21 (dfw.com) … In the last few days, Austin’s Amy Cook and local product Shibboleth stopped by the KXT studio. And, of course, we were rolling tape. Be sure to listen this afternoon when the Wood Brothers play live. (kxt.org)

QUOTABLE: “I think that one of the things that advertising people enjoy about the show is that it acknowledges that there’s a creative end to this whole thing, and that although often the most innovative and [creatively] successful ads are not necessarily the most successful at selling products, for the most part it’s trying to do that.”

Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner, in an interview with dfw.com. Weiner will be in Fort Worth on Thursday to speak to the city’s chapter of the American Advertising Federation. Click here for details on how to attend.

Per #2…KXT: Plainly the joint is jumping. It makes me very happy that the nicest and least egocentric people this side of the Trinity….(actually Guam)…. Gini Mascorro and Joe Kozera…are being allowed to be original, encouraged to dare, even to the point where they could make mistakes. Capitalize on their unique talents which include being great welcoming hosts to visiting artists. Amy Cook’s stop-by was just great.
