    hope you like it

  • Heya Paul,
Happy holidays! Great to be listening on line from where it’s snowing!

  • Jean-Paul Peretz

Check out Manuel Iman. He is a very versatile classical guitarist. I particularly like his album Legacy that takes classical Indian bhajans (devotional songs) and adapts them in different styles from blues to Flamenco

  • Wow, this was the first I heard that Vic Chesnut died. Saw him several times in Athens, Ga. and in Milwaukee. So sorry to hear that he’s gone. Thanks for the tribute.

  • Jim Daniel

    Hey Paul,

Got two for you tonight. You’ve been in a folksy mood, so I’ll introduce you to Lauren O’Connell. She has a beautiful, unique voice and not only picks a banjo, but also plays it with a bow from time to time (have never seen/heard a banjo played with a bow before her!).

Lauren O’Connell: The Daylight Here w/ Nataly Dawn (Nataly Dawn is the female part of Pomplamoose).

    O’Connell’s Youtube Page: http://www.youtube.com/laurenoc12
Myspace (Can purchase song from here): http://www.myspace.com/irishloc

And for a completely different sound, I’d like to share a frighteningly haunting and beautiful song from Hybrid called “If I Survive.” It has electronic roots and the beautiful voice of Julee Cruise. The lyrics of the chorus give you the idea:

“I’ll find a new life and hide if I survive.
I’ll find my own place in time if I survive.
I’ll learn to forget the crime if I survive…
But I swear you’re going down if I survive!

If I survive I’ll tell on you.”

this guys music is simply soulful and cleansing.. strangely enough.

Have a Happy New Year Mr. Slavens

  • Russ

My gosh, I haven’t heard “Joanne” in decades! What a nice flashback! Makes me all nostalgic njunk. What else have I forgotten?

    • thats what Im sayin
so much great music that I have probably forgotten
thats why I ask for suggestions

  • Chad

I happened upon this cool cover for Damien Rice’s The Blowers Daughter from Ana Carolina and Seu Jorge.

  • Laura

Since you’re exploring the Gorillaz, I thought I’d pipe in with a suggestion for “The Good, The Bad and The Queen”. Another project of Damon Albarn.

    Keep up the great work!

    • thank you so much.
Im feeling a bit outmatched by the Cowboys tonite
nice to know there are listeners listening
      cheers

  • Russ

“J’taime” sounds obscene. Turn out the lights and call da law!

What’s next, “Deine Liebe ist dein Schiff?” (not really)

Still need me some steamy, take-you-away “Calling You.” It’s all over Youtube. Just no Celine Dion, please (actually not too bad).

  • Kristi

May I suggest Aceyalone? Perhaps something from the “A Book of Human Language”?

Awesome show by the way, so much to listen to so little time!!!

    • you are so kind
      and thanks for the suggestion
this is all new to me
      great !

  • Dave Harding

    1 mo fo da ro_ad http://www.youtube.com/user/PomplamooseMusic
    Always in the Season

    great show Mr. S – I’m hooked

    • Im gonna get some more pomplamoose on soon I promise
      cheers

    • Jim Daniel

Looks like I didn’t submit a reply to this 🙁 In short:

Pomplamoose rocks, you wouldn’t do wrong by picking one song of theirs for each week.

Second: Check out Jack Conte ( http://www.youtube.com/user/jackcontemusic ). He’s the male counterpart of pomplamoose, sounds a bit like Radiohead and has the ghost of Jim Hensen up his rear end. (He dances and looks like a muppett on steroids!) He also plays every instrument known to man.

    • Jim Daniel

That came out wrong… I’m tired 🙂 Meant Jim Hensen’s Hand… just gotta watch Jack’s stuff. He’s great. I’m going to bed now!

    • Jim Daniel

      I recommend Gulf : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBUUOJpFg9Y

Ok, I’m actually going to bed now…

  • Cory

    Wolfgang Press! Holy crap.

  • Dave Harding

Kansas..WP, that rocked, specially since I’m tuned in online from KC. what a great parting gift…

  • Ed in Arlington

Yes! It’s been a “Dead Flowers” holiday season.

Any luck (sorry) with getting the Lucky Pierres on? I have “Cloverleaf” if that helps any.

  • Jim Daniel

    Good run tonight, thanks!
