Hi Paul-I just emailed you but I think I mailed to the old KERA email so don’t know if you will get it or not. Anyway…….ever heard of a band from Plano called Sleepy Sheep? I saw them at the Plano Balloon Festival and they were great! Bluesy rock with some country thrown in. Some covers but lots of originals too. I’m not sure they have recordings suitable for radio play yet but they do have a website- http://www.gosleepysheep.com and are on Facebook at Sleepy Sheep. Maybe they will have something “requestable” soon and you can play them! In the meantime you may just want to check them out. I believe they are 4 guys who played together in High School in Plano and have reconnected. My request for the night would be a Rolling Stones song that I think is called “Do you Think I would really care”. Absolutely love the show and the new station!!

“The Happy Wanderer” by a men’s chorus. Bought a used album of the children’s chorus, apparently a big hit in the 1950s, but it was junk (LP, not the song). Backstory: Guy had a condo in Breckenridge CO in 1980. Had a pristine 1940s jukebox with the bubbles rising up. Asked if it were a repro or restored. Noop, NEW. Found it IN THE CRATE somewhere, never opened. He paid $20 for it! Some people have all the luck… Offered $1000, turned me down. On it was a 78 of “The Happy Wanderer,” men’s chorus version. Have never been able to find it. The kicker: he also had one or two other jukeboxes in the crate. AARRRGGHHH!

Hey Paul,

A request for next week. Would you please bring your accordian into the studio and play John Cage’s 4’33 live for your listeners?

I’ve heard it’s a really important piece of music, but I’ve never heard it played on the radio. I understand it’s not very difficult to perform, and can be played on any intsrument. Some may have a problem with accordian, but I think for this particular piece it’s especially well suited.

  Saw Dweezil Plays Frank last week. Openned with Keep it Greasy. Eric Johnson came on for Muffin Man. Very good show. Good excuse to play some Zappa next week.
