Congratulations to Jacob Rasmussen of Euless, the winner of the Flickr Photo of the Week contest!

CTA TBD

Before we get to the this week’s winner, we have a special request to contributors to our Flickr site. With the AT&T Performing Arts Center set to open soon, we’re looking for some great pictures of the Dallas Arts District to use for some projects were working on for Art&Seek. So in addition to the Wyly Theatre and Winspear Opera House, we’re looking for photos of the Dallas Museum of Art, the Crow Collection of Asian Art, the Nasher Sculpture Center, the Meyerson Symphony Center, Annette Strauss Artist Square and Booker T. Washington. We’ll be compiling these photos in a special section of Art&Seek, and they will also be strongly considered in the weekly Flickr Contest. Speaking of which …

Congratulations to Jacob Rasmussen of Euless, the winner of the Flickr Photo of the Week contest! Jacob becomes the first four-time winner of the contest. And he ranks fourth on the Art&Seek pool contributor’s list with 111 photo. He follows last week’s winner, Randal Dean.

If you would like to participate in the Flickr Photo of the Week contest, all you need to do is upload your photo to to our Flickr group page. It’s fine to submit a photo you took previous to the current week, but we are hoping that the contest will inspire you to go out and shoot something fantastic this week to share with Art&Seek users. If the picture you take involves another facet of the arts, even better. The contest week will run from Monday to Sunday, and the Art&Seek staff will pick a winner on Monday afternoon. We’ll notify the winner through FlickrMail (so be sure to check those inboxes) and ask you to fill out a short survey to tell us a little more about yourself and the photo you took. We’ll post the winners’ photo on Wednesday.

Now, here’s more from Jacob:

Jacob Rasmussen
Title of Photo: Rainy Day
Equipment: This photo was actually taken with an HTC Touch Diamond2 smart phone. Most the time, however, I use a Canon Rebel XT
Tell us more about your photo: I was at work when I took this photo. It had been raining a whole lot recently, but I had forgotten to bring my DSLR to work. I took this with my cellphone from the top floor. The B/W was in-camera (or in-phone, I should say), and then some cropping and contrast adjustments were done later via Flickr’s Picnik app.
