Flickr Photo of the Week
by Stephen Becker 2 Sep 2009

Congratulations to Leigh Ann Field of Aubrey, the winner of the Flickr Photo of the Week contest!

Congratulations to Leigh Ann Field of Aubrey, the winner of the Flickr Photo of the Week contest! This is Leigh Ann’s second victory in the contest; she previously won in June for this photo.  She follows last week’s winner, Christy Porterfield.

If you would like to participate in the Flickr Photo of the Week contest, all you need to do is upload your photo to to our Flickr group page. It’s fine to submit a photo you took previous to the current week, but we are hoping that the contest will inspire you to go out and shoot something fantastic this week to share with Art&Seek users. If the picture you take involves another facet of the arts, even better. The contest week will run from Monday to Sunday, and the Art&Seek staff will pick a winner on Monday afternoon. We’ll notify the winner through FlickrMail (so be sure to check those inboxes) and ask you to fill out a short survey to tell us a little more about yourself and the photo you took. We’ll post the winners’ photo on Wednesday.

Now, here’s more from Leigh Ann

Title of photo: A Light In The Window

Equipment: Pentax Optio M30

Tell us more about your photo: I have recently become interested in photographing old theaters and attempting to make each one look unique with different treaments. The Majestic Theatre in downtown Dallas is a beautiful old theater, and though I didn’t go there intentionally to photograph it, I luckily had my point-and-shoot camera with me, so I just snapped away. I later inverted the image and added color to the one window to give it a different twist.

  • Great photograph! Majestic is such a cool building (and I don’t write that just because it’s OCA’s home office!). The highlighted window is in our hard-working 4th floor, where the Public Art, Cultural Contracts and Thriving Minds team are housed.
