The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum has designated the public television show, Austin City Limits, as a historic rock and roll site — that is, the show’s KLRU studio-home at the University of Texas at Austin will be so designated. It’ll join nine other rock and roll landmarks throughout the country — including the Whisky-a-G0-Go in Los Angeles and Brooklyn High School in Cleveland (where the Hall of Fame is located), the location for Elvis Presley’s first concert north of the Mason-Dixon line.

A plaque will be placed at the UT-Austin studio — ironically, the show itself will soon move to its new $40 million, 2750-seat home, the Austin City Limits Theater in Austin’s W Hotel complex.
