The D Art Slam got going in earnest today at the Fashion Industry Gallery. But like all fancy art events, a swank V.I.P. part went down Thursday night. And at the party, the new Dallas 9 was announced. If you are unfamiliar with the original Dallas 9, they were a group of artists who brought a little art and culture to the area in the 1930s and ’40s. Among the new 9 charged with carrying on that tradition is Kathleen Wilke, who Art&Seek has had an eye on since January when we profiled her.

And Wilke isn’t the only person with A&S ties taking part in Art Slam – guest blogger Gail Sachson helped jury the show.
