Sorry for the scant roundup this morning – I’ve got to be in Fort Worth by 9:30 for the Cliburn media day. The good news, though: Art&Seek will be all over the Cliburn with radio reports, online features and blogging from the event. So if you are a classical music fan, keep checking back during the competition for the latest from Bass Hall.

DOUBLE YOUR DONATION: Today has been dubbed “Dallas Giving Day” by Donor Bridge. If you’re new to Donor Bridge, the organization exists to help pair philanthropists with local nonprofit groups. And today, online public donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar (up to $200,000 total) by the Communities Foundation of Texas and The Dallas Foundation. If you’d like to support some of our local arts groups, you can search for them by name. If you’ve got a minimum of $25 laying around that you could donate, today would be a good day to do it.

ABC TAPS MITCHELL (AGAIN): Dallas native Elizabeth Mitchell has landed a primo gig on the re-imagining of the sci-fi series V. The show about an alien invasion of Earth first aired in the mid-1980s on NBC and will return on ABC as a midseason replacement during the 2009-10 season. According to New York magazine’s Vulture blog, Mitchell will lead up the human resistance. She’s best known for playing Juliet Burke on the ABC show Lost, but she’s also known to local audiences as a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School for the Visual and Performing Arts and a veteran of several Dallas Theater Center shows. For a look at some early scenes of the series, click here.

  • Can you fix the link to those participating?

And a V remake? That sounds interesting!

  • Hi Leigh,
Looks like there isn’t an easy way to link to a list of the participating groups. Stephen was trying to link to a pulldown menu that you can find in Advance Search on the donor bridge site. I’ve changed the link to the basic search page. Hope that helps. And if there is a list of participants we can link to, by all means, let us know and we’ll post it.

    Thanks,
    Anne
