THE PAY’S THE THING: Can you make a living on stage in North Texas?  Coy Covington of Theater Jones takes a detailed look at what local actors get paid. The answer: not much.  So why do it?  “You do it for the process. You do it for theatrical oxygen. You do it because you love it.” All well and good, but just makes me more curious how local actors balance necessary day jobs with demanding rehearsal and performance schedules.

TRACKING PAULPegasus News posts a nice shout out to Paul Slavens. Piece focuses on Paul’s regular Monday night gig at Dan’s Silverleaf in Denton. But it gives me the chance to tell you that the next Track by Track podcast features Rhett [Old 97’s] Miller and his new solo work. That’ll post officially Monday, but shhhh…you can sneak a listen now.

OPERA BACKSTAGE: Critics have raved about Ft. Worth Opera’s season. I have raved about what the company does to get folks in to see it. But even I wasn’t aware of this: ticketholders can get backstage tours prior to the performance! How cool is that? How’d I miss it? Reservations required. Call the box office.  817.731.0726.

READY FOR OUR CLOSEUP:  Art&Seek makes its debut on Think tonight.  Oh wait. I already said that.
