Believe it or not, there are actually three programs tonight at the USA Film Festival. Everyone seems to be focusing their attention, however, on one: the Joe Sedelmaier Tribute/Shorts Showcase. The primary reason is that a work-in-progress cut of  Warriors of the Discotheque: The Starck Club Documentary will show during the shorts program. The doc looks back at the decadent West End club that drew partiers from around the globe to Dallas during the 1980s. The Dallas Morning News ran a pretty extensive feature on the club and the doc it has spawned today. (Note: The story says that AFI Artistic Director Michael Cain will take a one-year sabbatical from the festival to produce another documentary on the club with its founder, Blake Woodall. Cain and Woodall are planning to make the film, but Cain says on his Facebook page that he’s not taking time off from AFI to make it.)

If you find yourself standing at the back of a very long line to see Warriors of the Discotheque, you might consider The Maiden Heist. It centers on a trio of museum security guards (Morgan Freeman, William H. Macy and Christopher Walken) all planning to steal their favorite works from their employeer. I haven’t seen it yet, but it sounds like it could be kinda fun. And if anything, it’ll give you something to watch if the thing you originally showed up for is soldout.

Both programs start at 7 p.m. at the Angelika Film Center in Dallas.
