The USA Film Festival is spreading the love around the moviemaking process this year. On the schedule sent over late Tuesday, there are tributes to those in front of the camera (M. Emmet Walsh, Ray Liotta, Brian Cox and Juanita Moore), those behind it (commercial director Joe Sedelmaier) and those who contribute after the film is shot (composer Paul Williams).

Upon first glance, other highlights include:

  • A 50th anniversary screening of Douglas Sirk’s Imitation of Life
  • A new print of Jean-Luc Godard’s Made in U.S.A., which was never released in its namesake when it came out in 1966.
  • Don McKay, the story of a janitor who returns to his hometown to be with his dying high school sweetheart. Texan Thomas Haden Church, who plays the janitor and who also executive produced, will be in attendance, as will his co-star, the previously mentioned Walsh.
  • Management, starring Steve Zahn as a motel manager who falls for one of his guests (Jennifer Aniston). Woody Harrelson also stars.
  • Warriors of the Discotheque: The Starck Club Documentary – Director Joseph Alexandre will screen a work-in-progress cut of his film detailing Dallas most decadent night club of the ’80s. If you were too young to make it there (check) or maybe your memory is a little fuzzy (you know who you are), then you should definitely read DC9 at Night’s recent trip down memory lane.

The 39th edition of the festival runs April 29 through May 3. Tickets for all programs are $10, and advance tickets will be available through Ticketmaster beginning April 16 by calling 214-631-8278. As of Tuesday night, the schedule hadn’t quite made it up on the festival’s Web site, but check back soon and I bet you’ll see it.
