Kirk Hayes, Humanity, I Love You, 2008, oil & enamel on signboard

Kirk Hayes, a Fort Worth painter, is the recipient of the Painters and Sculptors Grant from the Joan Mitchell Foundation. The $25,000 prize is awarded to 25 artists and seeks to reward under-recognized talents.

Hayes is represented by Conduit Gallery and has work in the collections of the Modern Museum of Art, Fort Worth; the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Kansas City; and the Austin Museum of Art the Blanton Museum of Art in Austin. In September, he will have a solo show at Conduit.
