Sandaga Market, the African art gallery on Levee Street (near the soon-to-be-named-something-else Industrial Boulevard), is hosting a performance Sunday of the Marchel Ivery Quartet with guest trombonist-n-tenor Steve Turre (photo, below). Turre has played with Dizzy Gillespie, Rahsaan Roland Kirk and Woody Shaw and has been a regular member of the Saturday Night Live band.

The performance will raise money to establish a college fund for the daughter of Ivery, the legendary Dallas saxophonist and bandleader who died last year. Donations are $25. Call 214-616-0802.
