On May 28, KERA TV broadcast Recapturing Cuba: An Artist’s Journey, which follows Dallas artist Rolando Diaz as he returns to the country his family fled when Diaz was just seven. He rediscovers his old Havana neighborhood and also connects with the city’s thriving art scene.

Today, thanks to filmmaker Harry Lynch and Trinity Films, we offer the entire half-hour documentary. Enjoy!

Mr. Diaz, I am so delighted to have finally met the artist that passed through one day at my job. You see in (2002) I think it was, you were in a hurry to an art exhibit and forgot your wallet at the hotel, and in need of gas you asked if I could help you and you would return to pay me back.. I agreed… You came in the next day handed me the $20 and a signed poster of (the Road to Berlene) and (The Old Man). said Thank you. shook my hand and left. I was in awe. I wanted to know the artist more and today I watched this video. Your video brought memories/tears of me missing home also. Thank you for making this.. Pamela Polk
