On May 28, KERA TV broadcast Recapturing Cuba: An Artist’s Journey. The Trinity Films documentary follows Dallas artist Rolando Diaz as he returns to his native country, rediscovers his old Havana neighborhood and connects with Cuban contemporary artists.

If you’d like to see Rolando Diaz in action, or watch the film on a big screen – a really big screen – head to Victory Park tonight at 7:30. Afterward, Diaz will paint live to music composed and performed by pianist Seth Simmons. The event is free, but the painting Diaz produces will be auctioned, with proceeds benefiting the fight against cystic fibrosis. Quick wrote a nice Q&A with Diaz and Simmons.

And tomorrow, thanks to director Harry Lynch and Trinity Films, we’ll make the doc available in the feature content section of artandseek.org.
