… which can look like an awful lot of trivia. The Guardian posts its list of the world’s 50 most powerful blogs. We get political fulminations passing as analysis, sneery celebrity gossip, techno-gadgetry (marvelous term: “geek ephemera”), silly photos of cats, obsessive personal (often sexual) revelations and obsessive sports chatter.

But don’t despair. There’s also some real reporting (talkingpointsmemo) and even the rare, intellectually valuable outlet, crookedtimber.
